So after destroying Forrest Griffin as if he was fighting his little sister. Do you really want to see your Hero eat those punches and take that beating? i no longer want to hear how GSP would tear through Anderson, its not gonna happen. get over it

i agree gsp is good but i dont see how he beats anderson...i think anderson would ko gsp.....and after this fight tonight i can actually say anderson might have a very very slim chance against roy jones jr. if they box...his boxing looked spectacular

i for one never wanted to see gsp-anderson, i would like to see gsp-marquardt, gsp-hendo, gsp-cote, gsp-maia......
however, if anderson gets by hendo, and gsp gets by kampmann/swick... then dont be suprised when gsp-anderson is announced. dana has said multiple times on record he wants anderson-gsp. and dont be suprised if that fight is announced for the toronto/montreal card next year in 2010.

ya but i see GSP losing i wish anderson would go for the title at LHW i think he could easily make a title shot maybe he already has by knocking out forrest in the first round i really want to see anderson silva-lyoto machida. man why did they have to be friends and anderson looked huge at LHW.

I wasn't a big fan of crossweight fights before last night, and I'm still not.
I didn't like seeing Penn get killed by GSP, and I certainly don't want to see GSP get killed by Silva, or vice versa.
Unfortunately the money and the noise from the causal fan will direct this thing, until we wind up with Lyoto Machida and Miguel Torres...Posted 7 months ago # -
torres-brock jcohl! the casual fan is what has been determining matchups recently. us knowledgeable fans know that anderson is ducking maia, yet the casual ones want to see ko's and thats why we have hendo-anderson 2 instead of maia-anderson. more casual fans mean more ppv buys, which means more money for the UFC. at the end of the day the UFC is a buisness, and money is the bottom line.

i see GSP vs. anderson like anderson vs. hendo but heck i would like to see him try anyway. even though i bet he would lose.
Posted 7 months ago # -
GSP has a chance, if he does it like he did Penn, and uses his wraslin' to keep him down. The thing is how good will silva be at avoiding the takedowns. Seems like with his pin-point striking accuracy, it won't be too easy for GSP to get a hold of him. Would love to see it.

Anderson Silva's win over Forrest Griffin didn't impress me onw bit. Forrest, like most of Silva's recent opponents, made Silva look waaayyy better than what he actually is. Forrest did exactly what he said he would not do which is beat himself. Silva is a really good striker, but like i said before and will continue to say is that Silva's biggest weapon against his opponents is the mental thing he has over them. He knows that he intimidates his opponents so he uses that against them. For some crazy reason everyone he's face(except Dan Henderson), all those guys were just scared of Silva, when he begins to dance around and to all that crap guys get scared to engage him.
If he ever fights GSP, GSP will take him down and do him like he does everyone else. Silva has zero takedown defense and GSP has the best takedowns period. Travi Lutter exposed Silva's weakness which is the ground game, he was able to take Silva down quite easy and MOUNT Silva. Hendo and Leites took him down easy also(1st round). Silva is a great striker but if he were to face a guy who is also a great striker he would lose, he wouldn't be as cocky as he is with weaker opponents. GSP would gNp him till the ref stops the fight or apply a sub. If Silva were to fight a legit striker like Rampage, he would get put to sleep,
hopefully Belfort can get a fight with Silva and prove that he's not as good as everyone says he is, his opponents have made him look better than what he actually is, he hasn;t got pushed to the limit so we havn't seen how he would handle that and he hasn't faced a guy that's going to threaten him on the stand-up yet. GSP would own him on the ground and fu*k him up.

If GSP gets the time to put on the muscle he wants to, then he would have a pretty good chance of beating Silva. Without putting on the extra muslce he wont be able to keep Silva down which is key, otherwise it will end up like him against Penn, except him being in Penn's position. If GSP can get a few take downs then he takes it, GSP wont get 'Serraed' again. If he can keep up with Silva on the stand up enough to then take him down, GSP would win.
This is all hypothetical though. I think we have more chance of an Anderson Silva v. Captain America fight ;)Posted 7 months ago # -
It's a good thing that Silva wants to keep fighting at 205 because eventually he's going to face some real "tough" competition and might run into Rampage who will put his a$$ to sleep.
GSP is an overall better fighter than Silva, GSP's stand-up can hang with SIlva's for sure, GSP might not have the power than Silva does, but GSP is more athletic and can get away for the big punches to eventually take Silva down and finish him. I agree that GSP would have to gain more muscle, but either way if he wouldn't be able to control SIlva on the ground he'll get 'em with a sub, either way GSP wins, he's a better fighter than Silva, Silva is not that great.

Anderson ducking maia, ha. Next you'll tell me he's ducking hendo. His management recently said he has no intrest in beatin hendo again, but fighting the winner of marquart-maia.
Posted 7 months ago # -
i can't see anderson having of a chance to fight couture than GSP just because couture is 2 weight classes that would be awesome but i don't see couture performing that well since he is old and then cutting to LHW.
Posted 7 months ago # -
regardless of what anderson said, or his manager said, or someone said he said, he doesnt have a choice on who he is fighting. he could say he doesnt want hendo, maybe because the ko of the brit was brutal and anderson is scared if he puts his hands down he will end up the same. hendo has only lost to anderson at 185 so its not like he hasnt earned his shot like leites who backed into it with the garbage win over marquardt.
im sure the majority of us dont speak brazilian, so maybe some of what anderson has said is being lost in translation. anderson has 3-4 fights left on his contract, however if he doesnt lose his title he will still have to defend it even if he is out of fights on his contract. [he will still be paid whatever he is supposed to] but thats the way the ufc works. its a title holder deal written into all contracts. i dont know all the specifics, but thats the short version.
i just want to see him defend his title against maia, and i want to see anderson try that hands at his waist $hit against belfort. those are two of the fights i want to see him do to fulfill his contract, not to mention fight rampage at 205 he should try that hands down tactic with rampage to, see how far it gets him.

DUDE bigchris, once again I am right with you. I can't lie or deny, I should by all rights be going by a nickname of someones choice AND worshiping Spider as a footnote to all my posts. Fortunately no one called me out as they did you, seeing how I'm a relative noob to this site, and I'm guessing the powers that be spared me. Given all of the above bro, ALL evidence points to the direction that Silva will take on anyone, and not scoff or balk. Historically I've failed to see him go there man. Been closely observing his challenges since he stepped foot in the octagon dude. Let him shine up until the point that he meets his maker, and given his ultra pumped up ego, HE WILL MEET HIS MAKER. Word of the patient roadie, this guy will end up taking a thrashing before its all over. Kick back, relax, and bask in the knowledge that this WILL happen. Nuff said, if he makes his full UFC run and never gets "uber pwned" (LOL) then he's the best EVER. And when/if that does so happen to become the truth me and you will eat so much Crow our guts will rot together.
However he will be forced to defend Maia when Maia wins (I'm predicting this along with countless others) and he will be forced to fight Belfort...(Belfort is going to re-establish himself praise the MMA Lords above) Just sit back and let nature take its course.
Even "IF" Maia loses to Marquart and/or Belfort happens to lose to my homeboy Franklin, there are true dogs out there who refuse to let such "HUBRIS" go unchecked. OR me and you are both wrong and Silva happens to be the best MMA p4p fighter to ever do it. Every other fighter who took that "unbeatable" stance and acted like it; took a loooong hard road to Smashville. Don't personally think Silva is going to be the one to break the mold. Machida maybe, but he's not cocky by any stretch of anyone's imagination.

Didn't read the comments above but I will state that after Anderson Silva beat Griffin I turned to Eric and said that Silva would walk through GSP and well thats what I said on that there

Couple things:
Bowles vs. Brock... since Torres took a nap Sunday night. ;)I agree with FR's assessment of Silva v. GSP as the same thought ran through my head at that time, though I did not vocalize it to anyone.
Silva v. Rampage... well Forrest beat Rampage (the close decision that it was), and Forrest just got "uber pwned" by Silva Saturday night. Also, to throw this out there for for a few people who I know have a thing against Jardine... Rampage couldn't put Jardine away and you think he will Silva?
Posted 7 months ago # -
i dont think rampage will put silva away, but he can do some damage to him, plus he has argurbly the best chin at 205, he hasnt been ko'd by a punch, by knees yes, but not a punch, i know silva has great muay thai, but i dont think silva is as strong as wandy and shogun were back in pride when they mightve been juicing.
i never liked the gsp-anderson idea, and i never will. gsp is just too small. if he was 3 inches taller, and had 20 pounds more of a muscle, he would toy with silva, and pick him apart at will... but gsp isnt 3 inches taller, and lacks the muscle needed to take care of silva. gsp would lose to silva, he maybe more competitive then a few opponents have been, but that reach advantage will be gsp's downfall. i am a huge gsp fan, but im being realistic on this, he will not beat silva, he will be BEATEN by silva.
natural, thanks for giving me props, and im glad you agree with some of my thoughts.
i made a deal with gun on the whole spider thing and that quote, and i am a man of my word so im going through with it. its only for a month, so it aint that bad. its not like hes making me have a quote that says i like tranny's and enjoy watching **** porn with my vibrator. so its no biggie.
as far as silva, its like you said... noone is unbeatable. silva has 4 losses on his record... hes lost before, and he will lose again. i respect the man's skills and talent, but i do not like his lack of respect towards his opponents in the octagon. you dont see gsp or machida dancing around and keeping their hands at their hips and sticking their chin out. gsp knows all it takes is one well placed punch by their opponent and thats it, ask torres as well. he learned that sunday. machida has the skills to go undefeated at 205 imo, however we havent seen him take a power punch. noone knows if he has a glass chin or a granite one. im putting my money on the latter, however everyone has a weakness... so what is machida's?

I have to say, I don't know that GSP would do nearly as bad as most of silva's competition for these reasons
Lets take the fluke loss to Serra out of the equation here, who has hurt GSP? The only fighter to really damage GSP in any of his fights was Penn, and (watch the video) it came after an accidental eye poke where GSP couldn't see. George has fantastic timing and is lightning fast. He really does rock power in his hands (Fitch/Hughes/Sherk/Trigg/Heiron) but choses to take down opponents with any level of striking (Alves/Penn/Mayhem/Kos) to put them in his world. He hasn't even come close to finding an opponent that he can't take down, almost at will - Alves defended against Hughes and Kos extremely well, had no answer for GSP. Also Koscheck who is a champion wrestler was tooled by GSP. Moreover Fitch/Hughes/Sherk and Trigg, all decorated wrestlers had no answer for him.
I am not saying GSP will win, or dominate Anderson Silva, but the guy who is going to beat him will have to be one who has fantastic dbl leg take-downs (thereby avoiding the clinch) and be just as fast/faster than Anderson. Slow power punchers will probably all take a nap (but I'm not counting out Rampage just yet).

Fella's what up
MARVEL KNIGHT 4
Dude first off I hope all is well with ya playa...
Second are you serious about Anderson not being all that good??? Man he is undefeated in the ufc after 3 years and only lost 1 rd in turn he finishes the guy {hendo} in the very next round...?
What in your mind qualifys as good or great?????Just because he has a weak takedown defense does not make him less a fighter or not GREAT. It only means he like EVERY OTHER FIGHTER IN THE WORLD has a weakness. Dan Henderson your so called Silva slayer even though he lost to him has a weakness in submissions and therefore he can be submitted, hence the reason he was submitted by quess who?? Say it with me Anderson SILVA!! YOU know the guy who got mounted by "FREAK'N TRAVIS LUTTER" ANNNNNDDDDD speak of whom he got A. Silva to the ground and what happened to him even though anderson was taken down hmmmmm ohhh yeah he was submitted / elbowed the h3ll out of and lost to who again ANDERSON SILVA!
NOW if this was a takedowns only match yeah I could see your point in that Anderson is not all that good but and but if you add striking, with kicks fist, elbows oh I dont know a couple of knees and throw in submissions hey guess what he is GREAT. And as far as the whole he scares people to beat themselves!!! C'MON Dude Seriously, what you dont count the multiple fist to the face or terrific knees or kicks or skill at all???
If that is the case he {Anderson} is truely great cause that is a tecnique i'd love to use and i'm sure everyone else in the world would love the "JEDI MIND TRICK" too!!!I just believe you dont like Anderson Silva that much is all and you cant point to a reason as to why he is not all that, with your reasoning being he gets taken down easy and he scares people....... He is not the boggey man, yes if you can get him to the ground and that is if and if you dry hump him for 3 - 5 rounds yes you can win but isn't that with all other fighters in the world???? Chuck Liddel submitted no 1 that I can recall and never moved up or down in weight class and his stance was his weakness and he was beaten in matches before yet through it all you consider him great. and rightfully so but on that same not Anderson is has tied the record for most wins and title defenses and with another one will be the only 1 I think has done that!!
Dude if that aint a great fighter I dont know who is then my friend.Posted 7 months ago # -
wtf is boggey man? ive heard of the boogey man though. i guess that boggey man is a bad mofo. [just messing with you OT1.]
gun lets do a bet on a 102 fight, im not sure if ill still be a citizen come 103 time. im waiting on my security clearances with the army, and they should be back in 2-3 weeks. if they come through i wont have access to a computer for 4-5 months due to the first parts of my training.

Good stuff OT1. Bout time you got on the Forums where the big boys post ;).
I guess is agree most with MTFL on this whole topic. GSP doesnt get hit often or stuffed on his takedowns. He doesnt brawl. And with the time to add size and muscle he could be a threat to Anderson.
I would give the fight to Silva though because I think that in the midst of all the takedowns that GSP will be getting, he will get cracked and steamrolled by Anderson likely in the 2-3 round. Up until this point though neither guy will likely land any strikes and GSP will be putting on a takedown clinic as usual.
Id give GSP a chance in the fight and he would likely snag a few rounds but in the end Silva would finish him.
A fight between Jackson/Silva would be interesting. Jackson would fare much better than Griffin in my mind. Even if he didnt land one punch, he wouldnt get KO'ed by a jab and would likely be able to weather most of what Anderson could throw at him. Rampage would be best off looking to weave and counter then take Anderson down. On the feat he could fare well but would likely get outboxed by the slick spider.
