Does anyone see this as a possiblility in the future? I don't think boxing, tennis, or even WWE is on the radio...but I think it would be cool if MMA was. Opinions?

Are we talking like a play by play of whats going on or like a ESPN type radio show where they talk about up coming events and up coming talent. Play By Play I would say the possibility is small for MMA just for scenario of when to fighters are rolling or grappling on the cage or ring there is not alot of excitment to keep the basic specator excited. Maybe Boxing just because it more one dimensions compared to MMA it would be easier to flow for some one tuning in or not completely unserstanding the sport... But this is just my opinion and i just put myself in there place like if i had to just listen to Soccer or Lacrose i would not really understand what is going on because I am not fully aware of the rule and plays

There was this show broadcast from Toronto called Live Audio Wrestling (The LAW). When it started a little over 10 years ago it was basically a WWF/WCW recap/rumors/interview show. It was good. It was on once a week for 2 hours on Sunday night at 11pm. Terrible slot, but it did well. After a few years it started incorporating MMA into the mix. So by about 2006, it was about 50/50. CFRB (Toronto's big AM station, Canada's First Radio Broadcast) dropped The LAW early '09 I believe, but it was picked up by the Fight Network, where it lives to this day on satelite radio. I don't have satelite radio, but I believe the Fight Network has it's own channel.

@ gar rule - are we talking about a talk show, or actually broadcasting MMA fights the way they used to do boxing back in the old black & white TV days?
Also, maybe I'm wrong, but I'm sure that there are countless Internet radio shows dedicated to MMA.
Come to think of it, shouldn't the frenZy be on Internet radio, with the posters calling in to Justin H and fr702 with our opinions?
;)
Regardless, I'm almost always in favor of getting MMA out there to the masses by any means necessary, including Internet radio, satelite radio, or terrestrial radio...Posted 4 months ago # -
I meant broadcasting MMA fights. I should've been a little more clear on that, sorry...I know that I would listen to a fight in the car or even at home when the money's a bit tight.
Max Kellerman used go dedicate some airtime to MMA on 1050 ESPN Radio, here in New York...but he got into a contract dispute and left the station.

Play by play would be good if you could set a standard for the language of what move is what. Mostly because someone using terms from say Eddie Bravo is totally going to confuse people when they talk about common jiu-jitsu positions. Just look at TV when joe rogan mentioned crackhead control and mike goldberg about lost it.
