Lee Murray, the MMA star accused of masterminding the biggest cash robbery in history, has been released from a Moroccan prison cell to freedom, his lawyers in Morocco and London said Wednesday.

The surprise move came after a hearing before the Moroccan Supreme Court in which a panel of judges upheld Murray's claim that he is a citizen of the North African nation. British prosecutors were trying to extradite the fighter on charges that he masterminded the Feb. 22, 2006 robbery of a cash warehouse on the outskirts of London, making off with a record $92 million in cash.

Abdellah Benlamhidi, Murray's Moroccan-based attorney, told ESPN that his assistant visited the maximum security Sale prison in Morocco's capital city of Rabat on Wednesday afternoon and was told Murray was gone.

"Lee was freed," he wrote in an e-mail.

yup I gave MR. Murray a Muay Thai salute in your other thread about an hour ago :-) and in other great news USA soccer beat Spain (#1 team in the world) 2~0 taking away Spain's unbeaten streak which stood at 35 and ending Spain's 15 game win streak,,,, Um just about one of the biggest wins in US soccer history.....

Nice. I added a link the the other post to yours. Yay soccer...or not, but props to the US, their prize is they get to lose to Brazil. Spain's streak was certainly pretty impressive, and you have to give it to the US for ending it, but they probably took the US lightly, I would.

Ok well Brazil has to play South Africa today sooo there and well Brazil can lose to the US they have done it before.... And why do you have to hate, the guys did really good be proud of them,,,, well you don't like soccer but it is a pretty big deal...

Mike Chiappetta (?) is reporting that Lee has been re~arrested after being denied extradition, back to prison the guy goes

i saw that game, and the us was saved by their goalie. he made at least 6 stops on shots that should have gone in. whats next for the us? another loss to brazil. brazil was toying with the us in their first meeting last week, and still beat them 3-0. now brazil will show up serious and blow out the us 5-0 or more. imo is was the us's biggest win ever.

back to murray, ... tito better hide!

some people say mma fighters are dumb and have no brains, yea thats true when you have a former fighter mastermind a 92 million robbery, and have it be successful. props to murray, hopefully he doesnt try to tempt fate and do anything criminal again.

Have you guys heard about the movie being made about Lee's life. With all the crazy stuff that hes gotten himself into the movie could be pretty entertaining. I'l always remeber when he came to the UFC as the guy who knocked out Tito in a street fight. You should read hughes Take on it from his book its pretty funny. Its to bad his life went the rout that it did casue I think he could have beat Franklin at any point in time, and went o to be quite the champ. Silva still would have shown up and beat him anyways just like he did at Cage Rage.

I have heard about the movie. It's pretty interesting that he gets as much or more interest from the MSM than any fighter that's still at it. Frustrating too.

Ya it drives me nuts to man. I was saying to buddy of mine the other day how sick I was of hearing about canseco. They even did a bunch of coverage on it on TSN.

Gun was talking some shiiiit about how the USA lost to Brazil in the finals in South Africa 3~2 USA had the lead 2~nil and were dominated by Brazil in the 2nd half, but hey they better than usual and is unfortunate that USA lost

i was shocked when the u.s. took the lead, and then went up 2-0. but watching the end of the first half you knew it was only a matter of time until brazil scored. I was suprised it took brazil so long to score and take the lead. the u.s. did show that they can hang with the top talent in the world, but the u.s. doesnt have the top talent on their team. at least the u.s. didnt give up, its like a cinderalla team in the NCAA basketball tournament. they will hang for at least half maybe more, but in the end the team with more talent should come back and win. although spain didnt do that, so I dont know how to explain that win. good job by the u.s. but I think the world cup 2010 will be between spain, italy, brazil, and maybe england.

don't count out the Dutch BigChris..... USA has to make it to some sort of depth in the touney tho and well hopefully they can get their collective shhiiit together, I do believe that they can be a top team but well they just have a tendouncy to fade and that is unfortunate.. We shall see come 2010 but we aren't tops rightnow still those kids have heart

ya its kinda sad to see such a great world wide loved sport such as soccer not getting the love it deserves in the u.s. anymore...but thats mainly due to the fact that in the u.s. we worship a three sport only system...baseball,basketball,football....heck my high school i graduated from just added soccer as a playable sport for next year...man i wish soccer would have been here when i was in high school i used to love soccer and playing soccer when i was a kid only to be horrified my school didnt offer it

Soccer is fun to play, I used to play it, I give you that. Watching it is another story, I do not enjoy watching soccer. IMO even if the US men won the world cup, it wouldn't change anything in regards to soccer's popularity in the US, and therefore I would rather see a team whose countrymen actually care be the one's to win. Even though as an American I still have to pull for them, even if I won't watch it.

Speaking of pulling for American's in sports American's don't care about, Lance Armstrong starts his quest to dominate the rest of the world in the Tour de France again tomorrow, it's a Williams Sisters final again at Wimbledon, and Roddick v. Murray is 6-4, 4-6, 1-1 at the moment.

soccer gets love when your a kid im saying like most kids play soccer when there kids but then they dont always have soccer leagues for when they get older

I get what you're saying about soccer for kids. Most parents have their kids play soccer (I think) because they feel like it's safer. But, I still don't think that quite equates to the way in interpreted what you said about soccer getting love in the U.S. The way I took that was like "American's used to love soccer, but now they can't be bothered." Not like, "we love soccer for our kids, but once they get over 12 we can't be bothered."

Roddick won, BTW, so history will be made Sunday, either Roddick finally tops Federer in a Grand Slam final, or Federer gets the record number of Grand Slam wins.

Justin you don't "have" to pull for the USA in the World Cup, but I know what you are stating.... I'm a crazy American who loves soccer (football, futbol) and If we can all remember back when my avatar use to be the Arsenal Gunners Sheild... I enjoy watching it playing it talking about it, I love soccer.... Am i few and far between well yes and no depends about who you hang out with and such.......

Helll I enjoy a good match and unfortuantely if the USA were to win the World Cup, I agree Justin that most people would see a blurp on ESPN and go about their business... Did you see what the Italians did when they won or Brazil? They went completly bonkers kid, nutz, ape shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, their passion for the sport is most definatly on a different level.. Furthermore I also believe that we could learn to enjoy the sport (average cat) but most won't even have the love and passion that other countries have for the beautiful game...

Lance going for 8 is awesome, Americans kicking asss in England is bueno

Tour de FRANCE, but anyways ;)

I know I don't "have" have to pull for them, and I don't, really, I treat it like I do the NBA... "whatever". Soccer/footy just doesn't suit my tastes, but it does other peoples' so, so be it. A lot of people don't like MMA, or sports car racing, but I do, so.. .yeah it is what it is.
