i know how bad you wanted kimbo to win......while i watched kimbo getting punched i thought mk4 has got to be hating this......kimbo vs nelson...kimbo with some takedown defense and at 205 could be real good but roy nelson showed how weak his ground game was.....do i believe roy was showing off after the fight...yes and i think he deserves it......kimbo gets treated like a king the whole time on this show ....We havent even got a one on one with any of the other fighter yet...some even havent interviewed yet...its the freaking ultimate kimbo show...roy whooped him he deserves his credit get the dude his whooper with pickle....:)

I believe the fat man earned his respect guys-I thought it was an impressive showing, easy takedowns, easy mount, easy crucifix, easy finish. Just because he didnt knock Kimbos head onto the judges table doesnt mean it wasnt impressive. Roy is a grappler not a striker, its not his fault his strength is Kimbos biggest weakness and it was a complete mismatch once it hit the mat.

I don't think "impressive" is the right word for Nelson's win. I would go more for "strategic". If I recall, Nelson struggled with Kimbo in the clinch for a full minute before taking him down. I also think weight played a factor in his crucifix, I mean Nelson was like 25 pounds heavier if im not mistaken. Im not trying to take anything away from Nelson though, he used his strengths and won the fight his way. I would of like to see more boxing, but only because I was rooting for Kimbo.

Gun, I know we see this differently, but I'll tell you this much:
Big Weeble had best win TUF, because there is no way in He11 that Dana White is going to give a UFC roster spot to some egomaniac who beat a half-trained Kimbo Slice by dropping his ample midsection on him, started love-tapping Kimbo's dome, and then started counting taps and expecting the ref to stop the fight.
IMO "intelligently defending yourself" should include a legitimate reason to defend yourself, gloved face touches notwithstanding
Baby arm punches aren't an attack, they're an embarrassment, and Dana said as much by mocking Nelson and praising Kimbo, which I agreed with on both counts.

After this fight I'm far MORE impressed with Kimbo and far LESS impressed with Mr "Double Whopper, no pickles"...

im ....why does everyone hate on nelson....he did what he had to win this is mma isnt it...at least i thought so..he took kimbo down with ease then got to side mount with and ease and crucifixed him with ease........am i impressed with kimbo? no the crucifix isnt that hard to get out of he's been traing for what liek 2 years now he needs to learn his stuff already.......personally i believe dana just made those comments because i believe dana is actually mad at kimbo for losing because now his ratings will drop......also everyone says ohhh all nelson did was put his gut on him.....everyone is wrong...nelson is a bjj black belt under the gracies might i add that crucifix was all skill and i dont care if kimbo cant even try to buck his hips or even attempt to get outta of the crucifix position he doesnt deserve to fight on....he wasnt intelligently defending himself he did absolutly nothing to get outta of that...he didnt buck his hips , he just layed there.....kimbo was far less impressive in my opinion, Ive learned how to get out of a crucifix and all i had to do was read a book....kimbo has worked with world class trainers-bas and rampage and still he has no ground game...........if he returns to the ufc with no ground game ill have no reason to watch him because truth is he cant survive as a hw he's to small and as a lhw i dont think he has the skill to survive with half of those guys

i kinda knew that Nelson would take the fight to the ground, but the truth is he wasn't really hitting Kimbo with some hard shots and when Nelson fights a guy with a decen ground game and some takedown defense with he'll get finished, Kimbo lost because like Mcfedries and Houston Alexander the guy has no ground game, i honestly don't see Nelson winning the show but he does have a decent shot but like i said when he fights a dude with takedown defense he'll get ko'd, but he did a good job and did what i think anyone else would have done and that's pay it smart and go to the ground, props to the Kegger, hope Kimbo gets another shot though

rampage is a world class trainer gun? seriously? i think its kinda hard to get a near 300 pounder that outweighs you by close to 30 pounds off of you in the crucifix position. sure you can get out of it, but dammn... roy is a big heavy mofo.

roy didnt impress at all, and considering hes the "best" from the IFL, [in his mind he is], what did he do that was so awesome? he was supposed to prove that kimbo aint $hit, and it seems that kimbo out boxed him and did alright.

i totally agree with you ont that BIGCHRIS

Nelson can't deny that he felt kimbos power and surely didn't like it. SO he took it to the ground and was giving him the weakest punches i've ever seen. I say good job by Herb Dean by not stopping it in the first round because kimbo didn't have a scratch on him after the first round thats how weak nelsons punches were.

I wsn't impressed by nelson. Especially since he things he's the **** and is the "IFL champ". He should have dominated kimbo the way he and everyone else was talking.

I must take a Gun's side of the story.

Roy did what he had to get "W" and Kmbo couldn't do anything to stop him.
A lot of people seems to see only bad sides of Roy , but no body talking about him taking a hard path to get to the UFC, but everybody complement Kimbo of doing so. What wrong with the Roy's big EGO. This show is about who is the best fighter and not who is the best person and I don't know what be my reaction if I know I'm the better fighter, but somebody getting much more attention then me only because he is the "star" , but has not even close skills set when I do. I do like in the fighters both personality and the fighting spirit , this why my favorite fighters such as Fedor , GSP , Mousasi, Randy and so on , but I never disrespect any fighter even if his name is Brock. Just please try to see some positive sides of each fighter (person) and not just negative. I'm not big fan of Nelson and his behavior, but he deserves some respect at least for getting into the cage and trying to fight.

what do some of you guys mean by nelson's performance wasnt good?..I mean come on kimbo landed what four punches, 1 knee and defended one take down succesfully....nelson on the other hand landed 44 unanswered shots!....44!..i dont care how weak those things were have you guys ever been punched in the temple hit your self there very lightly and then just keep doing it taking repeated shots to the temple play a factor evern if they dont look strong....back to whta i was saying nelson landed 44 unaswered shots, had two take down, and got into a crucifix side mount with ease....Id say that has to be one of the best performances in tuf history roy took almost no damage and beat kimbo easily...give the man his credit and his double whooper with cheese, no pickle!

Yeah dude you have a point. It was just as easy for nelson to crucifix kimbo as it was for gsp to get with edith =) Nelson did "what he had to do" to win. He won the fight but it wasn't spectacular and it wasn't really an upset. Nelson was the clear favorite going into that fight and more experienced. I just agree with what dana said after the fight. Nelson was acting as though he did the unthinkable and just pulled off some spectacular performance and imo he didn't he just won the fight.

Gun, I think your pretty spot-on with alot of the stuff you say, but Nelson didn't take Kimbo down easily. He struggled ans for a bit then took him down. In the second round, Kimbo tried to knee him but fell on his back in the process. Nelson just capitalized on it.

I think that Nelson's belly was the reason Kimbo couldn't breath but that's a fangerous weapon to have because as long as Nelson can take guys down he'll be fine but if he encounters a dude with real good takedown defense Nelson will gas then drop his hands then get ko'd.

He almost finished Nelson coming in at the start of round 2, and I think a lot of cageside guys saw that.

I could have sworn that at one point in round 1 Kimbo nearly rolled a reverse on the guy who apparently got his Gracie BJJ blackbelt by being the Beverly Hills ninja student that went and got the Gracies lunch at the deli each afternoon.

When Nelson dropped his spare tire on Kimbo, he didn't even try for a kimura or Americana, something both Justin and I noticed almost immediately, and posted on over in the commentaries section.
A kimura or any sort of wristlock from that top position is like BJJ white/yellowbelt 101.
And while I may not possess a Gracie BJJ blackbelt, I've rolled long enough to recognize when a guy is looking for the ref to hand him a win, instead of pounding one out on his own.
Better yet than me and Justin and whoever noticing Nelson's lack of "strong distinct finish", was Dana White noticing it...

I'm thinking that Lesnar hit Couture a bit harder than Nelson hit Kimbo, but whether or not the fight was stopped at that point the age and size disparities were going to catch up with the Natural sooner or later...

IMO this makes 6 fighters who have been unimpressive. As a matter of fact, this most recent fight was so lackluster that were now debating which fighter was the least impressive. I like when I take these brief breaks from the Frenzy every month or so cuz when I come back I notice overall trends in the discussion and debate that its hard to pick up on when your in the heat of it yourself. Ever fight thus far on TUF 10 has been pathetic and who gives a sh!t who was the most UNIMPRESSIVE! LOL.

@GUN- Dude I think your giving Roy a little too much credit, his performance was nothing to showcase. It was lay n prey 101 (ala Josh Koscheck season 1 TUF) and laughable. Kimbo was unfazed after those "44 unanswered punches" and so was his face. It's inadequate and not what MMA in 2009 is about nor is it anything any fan is going to pay to see down the road.

The same for Kimbo and his "performance" if thats the word we're now substituting for dull and boring.

All this hype for this season is turning into a goatfxck of major proportions imo. I've not been impressed for a split second; save for this hype machine and bullsh!t propaganda campaign that we see during the commercials.

if you look at the tuf roster for this season, take away rampage rashad kimbo and jackson and van arsdale, who stands out? the whole roster is full of guys that dont stand out. i didnt see noone matching up well with each other and having a "exciting" fight.

im not even going to touch the roy nelson issue. i really dont like the guy, and he is no king. [he told dana and co he wants a double whopper with cheese and no pickles, because the king wants it his way.] im not sure if that was a very bad idea of trying to give a shout out to a sponsor or what, but he is not a king of anything aside from having a 150 pound belly and a **** haircut.

His haircut is almost as bad as Griffins soup bowl in TUF1. Also his snobbish arrogance is made even worse by the fact that he has very little to be arrogant about.

I thought you all might find this interesting. This is Herb Dean's response to what what Roy Nelson said about him:

MMAWeekly: Firstly, Roy claimed that you didn't stop the fight in the first round because of Kimbo's status on the show. How do you respond to that?

Dean: Well, it's not that complicated. I'm there to protect the fighter's safety. Kimbo got up after that round pretty quick and spry, right? If I stop a fight it's because I believe a fighter's not fighting back, because he can't. And there's reasons why a fighter can't fight back. One is a positional reason like Roy had on Kimbo. It was positional. Could (Kimbo) handle blows and continue to fight? He did. He made it to the end of the (first) round and continued to fight. If the blows were any less, I would have actually stood them up. The blows were strong enough to warrant being on the ground, but they weren't strong enough for me to stop the fight.

MMAWeekly: So you felt the blows that Kimbo was taking in the second round were, whereas the ones in the first round weren't?

Dean: Well, I believe that the blows were solid blows. In the first round, they were solid blows, just like in the second round, but in the second round, it was the beginning of the round that he was down there. I can't allow him - he was not going to improve his position, he was not going to solve it - I couldn't allow him five minutes of that in the second round. Could I allow him to take it for 30 seconds in the first? Sure.

Touching on naturaldizaster's comments relating to being impressed, I'd have to say that the ONLY TUF thing that's impressed me to date is Kimbo Slice's positive attitude, work ethic, and humility.
His peformance in the cage was certainly lackluster, but he has an excuse, considering his tenure as an MMA fighter.
What's the excuse of the other yawn-tastic HWs we've see thus far?

they arent the awesome roy nelson... if your including roy into that about yawn-tastic, then i would answer with this... it was his first fight and he didnt want to show everyone what he could do, because he doesnt want them to be defeated mentally before they step into the octagon knowing they cant beat the awesome big country.

You guys just have to realize that my fellow Maynardian has a soft spot for Roy and will defend him any chance he gets. Just like I do with certain fighters I like or respect. Roy is self trained as is Gun roy is a heavy set guy as is gun(minus the full-on kegger) so Gun is gonna relate a bit and defend him. Its just natural and he cant help it. I do it to with Gray since im layed back and easy going like him was a stand out wrestler like him and im about the same size. All probable reasons why I like the guy. Rampage's crush on Kimbo for example.

anyway i agree wtih my boy jochl as usual,

i wasn't too big on Kimbo until the dude proved that he is humnble and is willing to learn the right way and the dude genuinely wants to be considered a legit MMA Fighter, the other guys on the show really havn't done much impressing IMO
