Diego Sanchez video

with exactly two months to go til the UFC showdown between BJ Penn (c) and Diego Sanchez, Sanchez gives this interview... What do you guys think...?
Posted 5 months ago # -
i think his confidence in his jui jitsu could be his downfall....i think he is gonna be surprised by bj;s jits and his standup...hopefully diego can pull the win though because i think with a win maynard can beat diego much easier than he can bj

Thanks for the vid bro, good find. Diego seemed realy calm and hible at the beginning but slowly got a little cocky towards the end. He seems pretty confident which is to be expected I guess. Diego is a great fighter but will have no answer for the tools BJ brings to the cage. With that said I see this fight possibly being closer than the fight with Kenny simply because I think Diego hits harder than Kenny, he can "get" hit harder to, his wrestling is better and his jitz is pretty even so he might fare a bit better than Florian did. We will see.
BTW who'd he get that outfit from, AJ from the backstreet boys.
And I completey agree with what Gun said ofcourse.

lol backseat boys ...but yes carls we can hope and pray that diego wins this fight

Maybe Guida hit Sanchez so hard that he's lost all sense of reality, or maybe its always been that Sanchez is a bit flakey, but as it relates to BJ Penn, he's going to "kick his @ss?!"
Really Diego?
"BJ's kryptonite?!"
"Be like a lizard, flippin' and dippin'?!
WTF are you talking about dude, and who the fu<k is dressing you for interviews?
That's almost as bad as when the Littlest Ronin Kenny Florian talked about "killing the master and becoming the new master".Sanchez's best hope for a win is for Penn to spend every day until the fight on the beach with his new baby, downing Kona ice colds and holding luau's at his place every other night, because if Penn comes into the fight in shape, healthy, and focused, Sanchez is going to get exactly what Pulver, Stevenson, Sherk and Florian got, and thats either choked out or technically knocked out...

I have to say that i wish we had more fighters that were as confident as diego. He's a super confident dude that hella believes in himself no matter who he's fighting and as a young man myself who's been through his fair share of trials, i hella dig that.
I like his respect for bj and his confidence and that's what makes him bj's most dangerous opponent @ 155. Florian imo was just talking **** and acting cocky as if he was trying to believe his own **** before the bj fight. Diego seemed very calm and very sincere.
However, diego's strength's in this fight are his conditioning, the non stop fast pace throughout the whole fight and his grappling. BJ's got the better boxing and ground game. I doubt diego will win this fight because bj is the best 155 and he's in the best form that he's been in his whole career. Mentally, physically, skill wise, bj's all around at his best and i don't think anyone can dethrone him or will @ 155/Who knows though, if diego keeps up that pace of his and bj can't finish him early, then bj could gas out and lose to sanchez...=)

-I'm not surprised that Diego Sanchez is confident because he's always been a confident dude who has always been sure of himself which is something that i wish every guy had.
Sanchez is for sure the underdog and is i think not getting the credit he deserves in terms of his chances agains BJ. BJ Penn is "BJ Penn" but he's not unbeatable and if there is a guy to beat him i think Diego Sanchez has the overall best shot at upseting Penn.
Most people say that Penn is going to submit Diego and they are problably right but most people don't give Sanchez enough credit. The dude is in awesome shape, he's a hard worker and has a great all around game. He hasn't fought anyone even close to the level of BJ Penn but the difference between Diego Sanchez and all of Penn's previous opponents is that Diego is coming in knowing and believes in his heart that he can beat Penn, Florian whetehr he wants to admit it or not knew he had no chance against BJ, he knew that BJ out-classes his in all things MMA, but IMO Diego Sanchez has the edge in agressiveness and problably in heart and maybe even in strenght and for sure wrestling so considering all of the above i feel that whether or not Penn fans and Sanchezhaters like it or not Diego presents a legit threat to BJ's title.
I'm not taking into account Bj's cardio because i feel that he's passed those demons and will for sure come in awesome shape so Sanchez better watch out with that.
You can say that Diego sounds a bit too overconfident but sometimes that's a good thing because when your that cocky you most likely don't doubt yourself at all.
I know BJ Penn can submit Sanchez at any given time but Sanchez has never been submitted and that is somthing worth pointing out and we all know how good Bj's takedown defense is but if somehow Diego does take him down, although he is no GSP he still has one of the best mounts in MMA and has brutal gNp. Bj can for sure submit Sanchez off his back but it will not be easy because like i said before Diego Sanchez is a true warrior and is game for anyone and i feel that he can set a pace in this fight that Penn might not be ready for.
Penn by no means will buckle for anyone ever period, but if anyone has a chance to take BJ's title it's Sanchez.

Diego will be the new champ at 155 believe it!
Posted 5 months ago # -
I remember this one guy named Florini or something that kept on saying "I want BJ's belt" and "time to KILL the master" and well didn't he get worked by Penn and didn't the Master make this Florini dude submit, cuz ya know its either tapout or pass out?
Marvel I know you don't want Penn to be champion and you probably will call for the upset each time against Penn, but if Sanchez does earn a victory over Penn, the rematch Sanchez will get destroyed even if it is not for the belt...
What will Sanchez be the champ of 155 for cuz I doubt it will be the UFC
Posted 5 months ago # -
He can say what ever he want to, he can do what ever he want to, but the BJ is on another planet and the outcome is obvious
Posted 5 months ago # -
fr702,
dude i have nothing personal against BJ Pen at all dude, he's one of my fav's and i was pulling for him against Florini,
i just wanted to point out that Diego has an honest chance at winning this fight, Florini did not IMO, Florini is a great fighter but not champion material at least as long as Penn is at 155.
i never always root against Penn as you implied but this time i will not because i don't like the dude but because for the first time i think he has a legit threat to his throne at 155 IMO.

And why haven't the Maynardians weighed in on how their boy will "bully" his way to the 155 title whether it be against Penn or Sanchez...
:PPosted 5 months ago # -
@ Marvel, apologies
Jcohl,
Gun said he want Yusss guy to win cuz Gray would have an easier time beating sanchez than Penn so they are herePosted 5 months ago # -
fr702,
dude don't worry i know your a big BJ fan, but just as i feel Shogun will beat Machida i feel Sanchez will do the same to Penn but i couold end up 0-2 but i like going with the underdogs but the truth is i've been a Sanchez fan since TUF 1 so i am kinda biast and the same with Shogun, he was my boy in PRIDE and still is so i admit that i am biast ;)

I'am a Penn fan helll I went to Philly to watch him fight live (and also to see KenFlo, Anderson and Griffin, BarnCat, Amir and so on), but I do understand that people dislike him, thats kinda why we are individuals I guess... But I often find myself having debates with people anytime a Penn fight draws near, and well perhaps I'm just a little too ready, it being two months out and all :P
Posted 5 months ago # -
just means you are a good fan.. everyone gets passionate about their fighters.. essentially thats the root of the sport and its popularity... the fighters are all so diverse we can all pick one!
Posted 5 months ago # -
I've always thought bj was sick until the grease gate ****. Also, i'm a super gsp fan so him fighting gsp didn't help either. He's one of the best and i honestly dig diego's attitude and confidence but he isn't better than bj and will likely lose. I'm rooting for diego but i doubt he'll win.
As for maynard, i understand the "maynardians" love their boy, but imho, maynard needs to train his ground game and kick/boxing before he's even got a shot at getting the title. If bj retires, then he can probably hang with diego and the rest of the 155ers, but he would get dominated by penn. That's just my take dudes =)
Posted 5 months ago # -
does anyone feel a bit of a cleanout if penn handles sanchez and maynard in the division? wonder what the long term outlook on the 155 class is... man i hope my boy "the King" Fisher could put together a couple high profile wins, even though he is a very seasoned veteran, but hey, joe daddy is a start
Posted 5 months ago # -
i like fisher too. It's a wonder to me how his kryptonite is wrestling when he's been with the miletich camp since forever. Fisher's got great boxing and imo the fastest hands at 155. He just needs to be more consistent and "convincing" in his wins if he's going to make it to the top.
Posted 5 months ago # -
the chronicals of Maynardia and it's Maynardians better hope that Sanche win because BJ is too crafty on the ground, if GSP could not finish a out of shape at 170 Penn than i don;t see anyone finishing Penn so easy IMO
Posted 5 months ago # -
yeah fishers decisions are not blowing anybody away, the wrestling he should have by now needs to come out and he can incorporate it with striking and at least have a two pronged attack to go along with his conditioning
Posted 5 months ago # -
The outlook on the 155 division is pretty much the same as the outlook for the 170 division, except Penn is about a fight or two behind the greatness in terms of shutting down his weightclass.
The truth is, almost every 155 or 170 fight in the UFC is determining who the SECOND best guy in that weightclass is, because no one touches either Penn or GSP when they are 100%...

i just dont think diego is going to go in there and push bj around and intimidate him with his intense face and hurried pace. diego has a tendency to rush in and get the fight going fast and i think he is open to having his mistakes exploited.
bj has seen it all and lets not forget he is a great counter puncher, i see bj finding an opening and finishing diego quicker than expected..
bj by mount tko, mid 2nd round
Posted 5 months ago # -
The Maynardians are hoping Sanchez wins cause if he does Gray will handle him. BJ on the other hand makes us worry.
Is anyone here besides MK4 picking Sanchez to win?
Posted 5 months ago # -
Just like MK4 is the only one picking Machida MK4 is also the only one picking Sanzhez, MK4 is not afraid to go with his picks like other people, Sanchez will win the title and it will be decisive and not a flouke win.
Posted 5 months ago # -
"Decisive" are you high? Like picking huerta to beat Gray was one thing but come on dude your smarter than that.
Posted 5 months ago # -
Hey, mk4 is my boy and all, but he's also a man, and has to go with what he thinks.
If he wants to go on the frenZied record with Sanchez over Penn, thats his call.
And if it happens he'll look like a goddamned super-hero of MMA prognostication. However when Penn knocks out or chokes out Go Diego Go, I won't call him on it.
I'm sure the rest of you will be on him like sensitive on Marvin Jones an hour after they put 107, and the wrecked Sanchez, to bed...
;)Posted 5 months ago # -
I really don't see Penn finishing Sanchez.
BJJ- BJ world champ/ so I'll give the edge to BJ. Sanchez is well versed in BJJ as well.
Wrestling- BJ's Takedowns is nothing special but his Takedown defence is top's of 155
Sanchez is a little above average in takedowns and takedown defence.Stand up- BJ has some of the best boxing in the 155 division right now, Sanchez is getting better Kick boxing every fight.
The Key to this fight is tho, its a 5 rounder, Diego has amazing cardio, and Penn is working on his now, I believe the first 2 rounds to be Penns { 3rd round a toss up ) and last 2 rounds Sanchez's. Penn is the more technically skilled fighter, but you cann't measure (Cardio/Heart). I think this is a decision fight, which if this fight is close I believe Penn well win the judges votes
Posted 5 months ago # -
The only edge Diego has on BJ is his pace/cardio. But to take advantage I think he'd have to lure BJ into playin his game, I think BJ will keep calm and just pick his shots, pickin up the wind at 3:28 in the 3rd rd with a RNC (jk).
Whats up with all the "maynardians"? I mean he's good and all but I don't think he's anywhere near champ status yet. Not lookin to start a fight, just input as to why everyone thinks he'll run away with the belt when he gets his chance.
