Good stuff.
My only problem is I can't decide if the best part of UFC 100 was the Buffer 360 or Hendo KTFOing that annoying as f*ck Michael Bisping.
Also, the next UFC video game had best have the Buffer 360 to match my XBox 360...

ya ufc 100 was actually pretty historic to me at least...i mean just look at it this way

1.) Mr.360-the buffer 360 was unveiled and was just about the most beautiful thing ive seen since sexyama

2.)Mr.BadBoy- the rise of the ufc's first hugely marketable bad boy champion in brock lesnar

3.)The Rise Of Two Champions- The continued legacy of GSP and thiago showing how much of a champion he is even in defeat by going 5 rounds and never quiting against gsp's endless offense..lesser men would have succombed to a stoppage or even quit(bjpenn)

4.)USA > UK the return of the old dan henderson and finally seeing bisping get exposed as overrated

5.) Sexy Time Yes!!!-the begining of a very very sexy ufc run by sexyama....whether you believe he won or lost...theres no denying that both akiyama and belcher have bright futures in the ufc....though i believe akiyama won ...as does sherdog, bloddy elbow, and mmajunkie

6.) The Ultimate Goodbye-The first true fall of an ultimate fighter winner...there is no denying that danzig will either be cut by the ufc now or be at least one loss away from being booted from the ufc with a less than stellar performance against fast riser jim miller

7.) Goodbye-the fall of stephen bonnar believe it or not bonnar just doesnt belong in the ufc right now...maybe one day he can come back but it became extremly apparent that he does not possess the skills to be a active competiter in the ufc lhw division at this time

8.) Stop Hammer Time-mark colmann is back baby...the godfather of ground and pound showed that he still has it in him to be a fighter.......stephen had to answer for colemanns wrestling or his vicsious ground and pound....this new colemann would have easily beaten shogun had he came in the kind of shape he did on saturday....colemann is without a doubt a fighter and i personally cant wait to see whats next from the hammer

9.) No Bones about it!- jon jones continues his streak and rise in mma with yet another spinning back elbow to the top of o'briens head and then finishing him with a no arm d'arce guillotine?????....he just makes up his own moves ...a really true pioneer

10.) 5.1 million gate the second highest in ufc history...not to mention the ufc fan expo was a huge success!

Lesnar's actions speak for themselves.
Some of us for a long time have been trying to get the message out there that this guy is no good for the sport or the UFC, but that message has been drowned out by the WWE fans, the kids wearing DeathClutch t-shirts, those MMA fans wanting to drag the sport back to its NHB roots, those fans who regard MMA more as spectacle than sport, and the pervs with the posters on the walls of Lesnar's Playboy MILF wife.
People supporting Lesnar show what sort of fans they are, and Lesnar thru his actions has shown what sort of champion he'll be.
It's that simple, and a shame in some ways, because in spite of his failings as a man, as a fighter Lesnar put on a brutal display of cage control and short striking power, and decisively beat a much more talented and experienced opponent in under 2 rounds.
For that he should be commended, and for his pre- and post-fight antics he should be condemned, as should Dana White for defending him afterwards.
If he'd behaved like anything other than an unmedicated headcase, I would be eating a lot of crow today, and be forced to sing his praises.
Thanks Brock, for sparing me the huge slice of humble pie I had coming to me.

Aside from the unwelcome display of "Lesnar-mania", the rest of the card had some great stuff, like a GSP classic, the return of the Hendo I wanted to see when he fought Anderson Silva, another example of why Jon Fitch is so damned good at his job, and the debut of Akiyama, although it was a bit spotty as was the decision.

Sad to say Stephan Bonner probably served notice that he's done with MMA, at least at the UFC level. Losing to Coleman is inexcusable, and really leaves him nowhere to go but out into the smaller show circuit, and try to scrape out a living on the rep he earned fighting Forrest Griffin.

Moving forward, I can't wait to see what comes in the next 100 UFC events...

i also think sexyama didnt win all 3 rounds, but like biz said dont leave it to the judges. i am thrilled that hendo ko'd bisping, and also that it made top 10 plays, shouldve been number 1 imo. brock had the right to get in mir's face after considering all the crapp mir has talked for over a year. i dont think mir is convinced brock still hits like a girl, and if he is he needs to look at his face. that beatdown was brutal. i also so a few shots that went to the back of the head or at least i thought they did, but oh well. brock shouldnt have flipped off the crowd, but he was caught up in the moment. i think carwin stands the best chance in the ufc to beat him and carwin has the legit one punch ko power that brock hasnt developed which is weird considering his size and strength.

i would like to have seen the undercard, and bonnar got beat by the dinosaur, freaking awesome considering i thought coleman would regain his form for one night. i called it in another post.
its time for gsp to face the top 185ers and earn his title shot. i dont want to see another gsp-bj fight. alves showed heart and never quit, still #2 imo. i would like to see gsp-marquardt, or gsp-hendo, or gsp-maia just to see how gsp can handle one of the top bjj guys in the world.

The Biz party was quite taken back by that post-fight routine. At first, I thought I'd gotten a bad case of indigestion and I'd hallucinated what I'd seen, but sadly, I hadn't. I discussed it with D and I can remember only one post-fight interview that sunk to depths quite so low and it was the guy who broke al-Hassan's arm and then said, "I always wanted to do that." Can't remember his name, but he's the only one.

As far as the fight goes, Brock did what needed to be done. He controlled the fight from the top while neutralizing anything Mir wanted to do and then hit Mir with, as the pre-fight guys said, "lunchboxes". There can be no doubt as to the guy's skill and dedication to his job. Now if he could only keep it klassy, that would be a step up.

GSP, what else is there to say? Ground n Pound St, Pierre did what he does. I don't think he'll get beaten for a while, but, as they say, that's why they're fought in the ring. You only need one lucky punch (yes, I'm looking at you, Matt Serra) to win a fight over a massive favorite.

Hendo can probably expect a fine from someone for the gratuitous Macho Man enlbow off the top (which he did basically admit to). On the other hand, that was a wicked right that Bisping's corner warned him against walking into. It even made ESPN's top ten plays of the day. Most impressive.

Jon Fitch is back. That was a really effective grind out win over a really quality fighter. It will be interesting to see how long it takes him to get back into the title picture and if he makes it there, how he does.

As far as the Belcher/Akiyama fight: As Dana White twitted last night, "I always tell these guys not to leave it in the hands of the judges". we at the Biz party had the first round for Belcher, second round for Akiyama, and third for Belcher. D called a split for Belcher figuring (as did I) that the first round was tight enough that it could have realistically going either way. I wasn't surprised with the decision, but nobody at our place saw it 30-27 for Akiyama. Of course, see the above quote for all Belcher needs to know about the fight.

That's all I got.

Gunslinger, I completely agree 100% with the Lesnar paragraph. He has to be the worst example of a champion that Ive ever seen. That fight was very unfortunate for Frank, because I believe that he truely deserves to be the champion. Not to mention that Brock did nothing but lay on top of him, and never tried to improve his position. Smart? It won the fight for him... **** poor of a showing? absolutely. There were at least 3 times where that fight should have been stood up, and i know that i wasnt the only one that saw about 8 shots to the back of the head at the end of the fight. I would give him some accolades for actually beating Mir, but he deserves none. "Im going home and drinking a coors lite, because bud lite wont pay me."- really shows you what his true motivation is. And its not for the good of the sport that we all love. Brock Lesnar is a P.O.S. , a disgusting human being, and a **** poor UFC champ.

The Hendo KO was awesome! Unexpected, but awesome. That big right was coming the whole fight, and it was only a matter of time.

GSP did was he does best.

How did you get to see all the other prelims?

Lesnar vs mir- lesnar vs mir only helped show me that i will never root for brock lesnar ever and i am 100% sure i will cry a river filled with tears of joy on the day this cocky, un humble and truly disgusting HW champ loses his title.......#1 you dont get into another fighters face after you beat him....#2 through all the years ive been watching mma ive never seen worse sportmanship.....#3 flipping off the crowd i dont care who you are you dont do that expecially we there was probably children there with there familys just waiting to see there favorite fighters............Brock lesnar is the worst example of a champion ive ever seen....IMO frank mir came out the champion in this fight..by being humble afterwards and doing nothing but praise lesnar...I will never be a fan of brock or his WWE drama he seems to like to bring into the cage.....Id rather watch kimbo become the hw champion than lesnar..no i really hope fedor comes to the ufc so i can see brock lose an arm....also brock your wife sable just blaht !

GSP vs thiago- went exactly the way i thought it would.....gsp neutralized any striking attempted by alves with takedowns and his unorthadox striking techniques......but alves definitly showed me that he is champion material and id love to see how he recovers from this...because after seeing how he handled gsp last night...I have no problem calling gsp or thiago alves champion, because they both deserve it

hendo vs bisping- wow...the bars was going crazy...I mean it was nuts as soon as the count went down for the count....the whole bar erupted with chants of usa usa usa.........just watching hendo totally destroy bisping was awesome........hopefully hendo can make something happen in this second title shot as long as he sticks to the game plan this time..wrestle wrestle wrestle

sexyama vs belcher- i scored the fight for akiyama all three rounds.....and i checked and so did alot of mma web sites....i really think the ufc and dana need to tell mike goldberg to shut his big mouth because he has no idea what he is talking about saying that alan belcher knows he got robbed......because truly he didnt akiyama landed just as much as belcher did and had takedowns and was on top at least once every round...sexyama is here and be prepared for because "The Sexy Era " has begun....and its gonna be a sexy ride to the title baby!

Cb- im not even gonna talk about that.....just makes me sick.....i stick up for cb all the time and this is the thanks i get...thanks cb

fitch almost got upset but came back after round 1 and won the fight

bones jones looked awesome again

mark colman whooped on bonnar and almost subbed him in round 3 and the stun gun beats tk...just awesome

Ok I just needed to rant and list some thoughts here. First off I bought the card and had friends over thinking this was the perfect card to showcase to new people with GSP on the card and Brock's drawing power... well Comcast ruined that... I saw only 2 1/2 fights tonight... The picture was completely pixelated the majority of the card. I missed the beginning of the Hendo fight and when it started back I saw everything until he literally threw the KO punch and it froze... Seriously ticked off... I called comcast and never recieved a single human voice until I hit the "discontinuing service" option and THEN was put back on hold... my phone died before they answered... (2 hours). I managed to see the GSP-Alves and Lesnar-Mir fights for the most part with out interruption. So yeah comcast and I will be having a I'm changing my service talk...

Anyways! About the fights that I saw and my thoughts.

Bisping-Hendo: From what I saw Bisping was clearly in over his head against Henderson. He was wary of the right hand, not to mention afraid to clinch with Henderson and as the fight proved he had reason to be. Henderson is still a threat to anyone he faces and Bisping should rebound just find barring he has a mental lapse.

GSP-Alves: GSP did exactly what he had to do to win. His wrestling may be the best MMA-style wrestling ever. His footwork was fluid, his shots were explosive and well set up, not to mention he smothered Alves on the ground. All of which was made more impressive by the fact that he pulled his groin early in the fight. GSP has proven once again there may be a 3 way dance at the top of the P4P lists(if you prefer them ranked)

Lesnar-Mir: Everything happened exactly as I thought it would. I have to admit I may be in the minority but I did see a lot from both fighters(positive and negative). Mir's knee was taped in a way that you would to stabilize ligaments so I am a little curious how good to go he was. Regardless of that though I was actually rather surprised by Lesnar. I know the guy is still very green BUT the guy did a perfect job at not allowing Mir to get anything going. I was shocked when he backed out on a shot in which he was clearly over extended and in danger of being guillotined. He also smothered and extended Mir like you are supposed to do when facing someone with BJJ at Mir's level. Mir and Lesnar's striking was absolutely atrocious though I do have to admit. Neither showed any real skill with their striking and as Lesnar has an excuse Mir really doesn't. (If you want to bring up Mir's fight w/ Big Nog, re-watch the fight and it was still awful then he just connected on more shots that time)

I didn't care for any of the antics at the end by either guy BUT I have to say... Mir kinda had it coming. I've been a Mir fan long before his comeback and I know he's always talked a lot crap but I noticed he seemed to step it up for this rematch. I know both of them played it up for showmanship before the fight but even Mir admitted he was deliberately trying to "poke the bear" with Lesnar and wow it ended badly for Mir. Mir cannot argue the stoppage, he was pinned and Lesnar was jut going to continue throwing bombs until Mir's eyes rolled into his skull.

Now what can I take away from UFC 100 other than being angry at comcast? Well Bisping clearly needs to regroup and get his head right before making a comeback push. Henderson provides a solid opponent for Anderson and a decent rematch.

GSP is well... were does he go from here? Obviously he needs the time to recover from the groin injury and that may actually give him some time off to allow the welterweight division to develop a true number one contender. For Alves he's in the tough spot just like the rest of the people that fought and lost to GSP the last few years.

Lesnar needs to continue to develop an all around game. I don't care for how he acts but the guy is a draw and he wins. He isn't setting MMA back at all considering he is still legitimately training with a tough team. I really don't care to see a third match-up for Mir-Lesnar because I think it'd just be the same thing unless Lesnar makes a mistake like the first time and as he showed tonight that is unlikely to happen. I cannot wait for his match-up with Carwin or Velazquez because then in my mind he will be forced to show more than what he has in order to stay on top. Mir on the other hand has the possible third match-up with Lesnar to look forward to and I really think that he HAS to clean up his striking. With cleaner striking then I believe he'd actually give Lesnar a better fight. Anyways, that's just my thoughts on what I saw.

Thanks for saying so, carls.
Kind words, for sure, but in light of the quality of writing and reporting here at mmafrenzy, I'm not sure I have the "tickets" for a ride this good. If asked I would certainly contribute to this site in any way possible, but really I'm just glad I found this site, and that there is an open forum for myself and everyone to express MMA thoughts, comments, and opinions...

Of course every highlight video set to trendy Euro-club or rap music makes even an average MMA fighter look like a superhero, but Akiyama definitely seems to be the real deal. Good stand-up, definitely knows how to catch someone in an armbar, and is a finisher, which I love.
He's beaten Denis Kang, as has his 100 opponent Alan Belcher, which isn't exactly a day at the beach, and has a $hitload of fighting credentials. His judo game should play well in the Octagon, but I do think there are a few things he needs to check himself on.

First, is Akiyama's cardio. I don't think the guy has seen a final round, and in the UFC guys are fine with going to a decision, and routinely do. He needs to be ready for 15 minutes with an opponent who has more experience fighting in a cage than he does.

Second, he needs to keep his hands up, especially his left. Watching his highlight video revealed a tendency for Akiyama to hold his hands low, or drop them entirely. A UFC-level striker will notice that in a minute and adjust accordingly. A lot of UFC guys train with old-school Western boxing coaches, which is something he might not have seen fighting overseas.

Third, Akiyama seems fine with going to the ground, which is awesome for a fan of the ground game like myself, but in the UFC he's going to face opponents who have a lot of submission wrestling and BJJ training, and BJJ tweaked for the cage.
Also, no gi in the UFC, my friend, so best be ready to go Hawaiian style, skin on skin. It seemed like in a lot of those highlights he was wearing a gi, and I hope no part of his game is predicated on that.
Man, even Akiyama, doesn't live by an armbar or choke alone. He'd best be up on the full spectrum of submissions, and their escapes, or he's going to find himself in an uncomfortable situation.

Fourth, Akiyama needs to make sure he leaves his banana milk or baby oil or whatever the heck he smears on himself and his gi before fight time at home. Lord knows the BJ/greasegate thing was annoying enough, and Akiyama has had his share of post-fight extra-legal issues involving the use of something slippery. The last thing I want to see is this guy's debut marred by some sort of misconduct charge related to Oil of Olay or some such.

Finally, Akiyama needs to develop cage command. His game from what I've seen seems well-suited for a cage, probably even more so than a boxing ring, but he needs to make sure he watches enough UFC footage to see how UFC guys roll in the Octagon, both literally and figuratively.
Alan Belcher's skill-set is probably a great first bout for Akiyama, and I'm picking him to win, and to finish. However moving past Belcher, assuming he wins, he's going to face MW's a lot stronger and much better grapplers than he's used to, and a good many of them are going to see the new guy and think, "hmm, I'm going to Couture 101 this dude and see how he likes eating cage for 15 minutes".

I think Akiyama has a bright future in the UFC, and I'm definitely pulling for him to bust out something spectacular in his debut bout...

First off, let me say the odds of Fitch being beaten by Thiago are really small, but hypothetically it's possible. I would think that the Swick-Kampmann loser, rather than the winner, would be a good next fight for Thiago.
I'm in the minority with this, but I've picked Swick to beat Kampmann. As I've said before in most sports speed kills, and Swick's striking speed isn't going to make Kampmann a happy camper. Regardless, either Swick or Kampmann would make a good opponent and solid fight for Thiago if he somehow can beat Jon Fitch.

give him marcus davis or the outlaw. with the outlaw beating davis he moved up a few spots, and either guy would be dangerous the thiago. regardless of if he beats fitch or not give him either of those guys. swick more than likely loses to kampmann, so if thiago beats hardy or davis then he gets swick, then the gsp-alves loser. i dont think homeboy should get a title shot or even be considered top 5 with a win over fitch, he caught kos, he was getting picked apart in that fight before the nice uppercut. i havent seen anything from the guy to impress me, so thats how i feel.
