Glad to see you are with better people now, gunslinger. Now we just gotta find some promoters that have half a brain to get you in the cage/ring, or maybe you need to find a manager to help with that.

I do have one suggestion to make however, in that maybe you should start a thread called the Gunslinger Project?

justin, i switched trainers because the guys i was with before really didnt help at all......the people im with now are really all about technique and footwork when it comes to striking, plus they have a great wrestling coach and a black belt in jui jitsu training there......itsjust much better......theres so many great fighters here and from so many walks of life its really great

natural, thanks dude, i dont know what it is ive just always been a real quick learner and ...when i read book or watch tapes i can really keep in my mind what i need to do, thanks so much for the encouragement

onlytrue1, i know exactly what your going through one of the guys i train with has been doing boxing since the 70s and just started doing jui jitsu and he can barely bend his arms..so arm bars are really easy to pull off against him

fr,thanks for the kind words fr...your like a brother to me :'(

Gunslinger...
If your aptitude is high enough you can instinctively pick up on tactics and even techniques through video or book. Evan Tanner used it to jump start his own success and so have others. I became proficient with nunchaku through videos and a book, when ALL the experts say with this particular art you really need a trainer.

You have good reason to be stoked Gun, what you related to us is both kick a$$ and unique. From what you have shared thus far man it looks as though you have an actual knack or talent at this whole fighting thing, and our encouragement isn't there just to be there. Your showing some definite sparks that could lead to success, and furthermore your motivation is A-1 dawg. IMO you got what it takes and I encourage you to follow it wholeheartedly.

great point and I completely agree about silva gun. leites took the second round from silva and I thought alright this is gonna be a good fight. at the end of the 2nd silva gave leites a tap and shook his head as if saying good round kid. shoot, leites submits bjj black belts, thats why leites was a world champion in bjj. I also agree that maia-silva would be a better fight, I think maia's striking is better than leites, and maia's bjj is better as well, as well as his takedowns, and I doubt maia would give up on the takedowns like leites did. I like how silva was going for headkicks, and I espically like those stomps to leites knees. I had never seen that before, I wouldnt be suprised if leites had some ligament damage. I think those stomps took away leites's explosiveness for takedowns. When silva caught one of leites's leg kicks, I thinks in the 4th, I had a flashback to james irvin's ko by silva. I think leites did too, and thats why he fell.

I agree about kongo, he should get the winner of mir-brock, I wasnt overly impressed with cane, I was by the polish experiment.

I like how shogun went for a kneebar on chuck, and I thought chuck was going to get ko'd with a overhand right, again. shogun was timing it and had missed two close ones. shogun looked impressive, but I wanted to see if his cardio was there in the third. shogun should fight either jardine, the winner of forrest-thiago silva, or maybe the loser of evans-machida next. I was shocked when dana said chuck had fought for the last time. I was glad to hear it because I didnt want to see chuck tarnish his legacy by fighting with clearly diminshed skills, but I would of liked to hear chuck say that he was retiring instead of dana.

I do not like this idea of a superfight between gsp-silva. gsp is outmatched in every category against silva. ko power, reach, jj, muay thai, striking, size/strength, takedowns and takedown defense. I honestly think that fight would turn out like gsp-bj, but gsp would be on the losing end. I am a huge gsp fan, but I would rather see gsp fight marquardt, maia, hendo, or cote first before he fights silva. people were **** when bj got a shot at gsp without facing a top contender at 170, why should the rules be reversed for gsp. if gsp beats alves, which is a big if, he would have dominated pretty much the top ten at 170, and for his next challenge should move to 185, but I dont think he would dominate there.

If people want to see silva in more exciting fights, have him move to 205. I want to see silva-rampage, or silva-evans. if that were to happen maybe silva could fight fedor at a catchweight of 220 or something. both guys walk around at that weight, that is the superfight I want to see. I dont care if it happens in the ufc, affliction, or any organization. I want to see that fight.

sam stout looked good but I cant believe he gave wiman his back. I spilled my crown and coke when that happened, (it wasnt diet coke FR) but that was fight of the night. I am happy quarry won, but I did not catch that fight. I heard it was a great ko though.

Overall ufc 97 was a good ppv

WHINING JUST WONT STOP WILL IT!
well why not get right to the main issue....the main event...some people are already blaming Anderson silva saying he should have fought leites instead of dancing around despite how leites's "fight strategy"...and all i can say to that is anderson deserves no grief he fought a great fight and just got frustrated with thalies its not andersons fault that leites decided to employ his new strategy against silva in his new fall-wait strategy...in turn where he falls without being hit by silva and wait to see if he will come to the ground...leites was not the problem either though...i mean what can you expect the guy had to fight anderson silva the P4P best fighter in the world, he was afraid and got outclassed every minute of the fight.....but why and how can anyone blame anderson after leites didnt try one take down attempt the whole third and fourth rounds instead he faught on with his fall-wait method........what should we expect anderson to do make mistakes and try to jump down into leites's guard ...no! because then he would be playing into thailes fight strategy...anyone who blames anderson in my mind is dumb!.....the only thing i blame is a bad game plan by leites..i dont blame leites though he tried something new and it didnt work......now are there still possibilities for anderson ....of course there are demian maia would still be a great match because unlike leites demian maia would keep trying for the takedown not quit after taking him down and him standing back up.....i dont blame anderson or leites and i believe the main event was fine.......also anyone who says! worst main event ever! you also would be dumb because id watch anderson leites over rashad bisping anyday! and there are plenty more.....i came to appreciate the many great moves anderson tried in this fight like his leg kick with his left foot behind his right foot and his kicking directly on the knee...overall ok main event but no where near bad unless your the fans i saw at b-dubs this week who where yelling worse fight ever all night!

KRZYSTOFF SHINES!
no to other things krzystoff looked fantastic and despite what many people think i believe krzystoff is going to be a great fighter and a possible contender one day in the lhw division.

IN TITLE CHEICK?
Kongo is on the verge of a title shot i say give cheick the shot at mir/lesnar winner or have him fight carwin for the #1 contender shot....but kongo definitly deserves a shot at another top contender and he is close to his title shot

BANHA FEVER!
luiz cane is rising fast as a huge lhw with spectacular striking and good jui jitsu....his win over steve cantwell shows his conditioning is also there...next up for luiz will likely be a top contender, possible match ups- shogun!

GOODBYE LIDDELL!.....HELLO SHOGUN!
tonight was both sad and happy because while yes we could have seen the last fight for chuck liddell , we also saw the return of the real shogun...not only ko'ing chuck ...but ko'ing chuck in the first round..though i cant wait to see shogun make a run for his title again! id also take this time to say i dont see this being chucks last fight...i expect one more from chuck then a retirment and a well deserved hall of fame spot

and my other short thoughts!

Its quarry time- quarry bvlasted j-mac which surprised me though i was glad to see nate win again

The crow's last cah call!
IM sad to say it i just dont see the crow ever returning to form or ever fighting in the ufc again...you just cant lose to someone like ed herman and stay in the ufc....because ed isnt even a gatkeeper

"Handsome" "Hands of stones"- one of the best fights ive seen in a while great fight and definitly made the ppv even better i was really glad to see it

over good night of fights but i think ufc 98 will be just a little better....go machida

Forsure R.I.P. Charles Lewis Jr.

Some people didn't care for the groups "antics" or whatever, but what he personally did and the group did as a whole for MMA a mojority of fans cannot imagine..... Most just looked at the cartoonesque personas that they had and didn't realize that with their involvment in the sport of MMA they personally help the sport grow as much if not more then any specific fighter can atest to .... Look for the TapouT logo in the "earlydays" they supported fighters before it was cool to make an expensive shirt.... I've never heard people complain about Mask as an individual and most people always stated he was a wonderful person to be around and know, quite the embassador for the sport of MMA..
